In October of 2024, I painted a detailed piece of a special couple who were married at The Upchurch venue!
This was my first time visiting this venue. It includes beautiful buildings on green grounds tucked into the side of a winding road in Cary. I arrived early to set up, and found my little spot in the corner.

While guests arrived, I filled in the walls and ceiling. This couple wanted everyone in the audience and their wedding party included, so I used all of my time wisely to be ready to fill them in!

The candles and flower petals were going to be so fun to include!! The couple wanted the scene after the pronouncement with the cross in the background.
After cocktail hour the guests were so excited to see how the bride and groom had already been filled in. They were looking forward to seeing themselves in the painting.
I worked quickly and loosely to fill in the guests. It was a fun challenge to represent outfits and hairstyles so that the guests DID recognize themselves. I especially liked the lighting of the yellow lamps against the wall contrasted with the purple floor, which also reflected the candlelight!
The couple was so surprised at the result by the end of the night! I took it back to the studio and finished details, filling in faces and adding reflected light. This was the final result!
Would you like something like this for your wedding? I'd love to capture your joy in a painting! Reach out to me here!
