Boone Hall Plantation Live Wedding Painting in Charleston, SC

I visited Boone Hall Plantation first when my son was a baby. We marveled at the gardens and the Spanish moss. I'm a history lover, so we also appreciated the tours of the grounds to understand why the place was significant. When I booked this live wedding painting, I was thrilled to go back and capture all of that beauty on a canvas!

I set up on the lawn before the ceremony and began to map out what the composition would be. The landscape view of the gate in front of the aisle of live oak trees needed to be highlighted. I decided to form my composition with that aisle as the center, knowing the couple would be the focal point in front of it. They wanted the scene of them walking back down the aisle and celebrating after their pronouncement.

It was a picturesque day and the weather was perfect. Guests arrived and looked at how I constructed the underpainting. They were excited to see how the painting would progress throughout the night.

After the beautiful ceremony, we rode in a golf cart to the reception site by the water. I set up my things in the reception hall while the guests enjoyed themselves during cocktail hour.

The painting continued through the celebration, and by the time the dancing was winding up, I was almost finished! The bride and groom loved the painting and their families said they were astonished at the likeness that was captured. It was such a fun night--I always love watching people dance and celebrate as I paint!
